What's Opening, Closing, and Changing in Naples Right Now

Naples doesn't pause for summer. New restaurants are opening, iconic pop-ups are graduating to brick-and-mortar, beloved concepts are expanding, and a handful of closures have reshaped the dining map. Here's the full picture.

This is the news Naples burger lovers have been waiting four years to hear.

Kyle Cravo — the man behind the bright orange pop-up tent and the cult wagyu smash burger that 9,500 Naples residents voted best in the city — is finally getting out of the minivan and into a real restaurant. Only Doubles is opening its first permanent brick-and-mortar location this fall in a deliberately discreet spot off Airport Road.

The space seats 26 people inside with bar seating and beer and wine service. The menu stays tight — the ODB (potato roll, melted cheese, onions, two wagyu patties, ODB sauce), the RZA (a scaled-up ODB with pickles, ketchup, and mustard), golden fries, and creative loaded fry variations. Specialty burgers will rotate whenever inspiration strikes.

The location is intentional. Part of the experience, Cravo said, is the sense of discovery — walking into a neighborhood hangout that feels like a 1970s or 80s dive bar, where carefully selected music fills the room and the atmosphere is as much a part of it as the food.

"I want to give you a five-star experience for a one-star price," Cravo said. "Naples is lacking in so much. I just want to add a little bit of flavor and a little bit of authenticity."

The pop-up isn't going away either. Cravo plans to keep doing pop-ups at Brookside Beer Market and around Southwest Florida while the permanent location runs. This is the beginning, not the end.

🥚 Another Broken Egg Cafe — Returning to Naples Near Freedom Square📍 Near Freedom Square, Collier Boulevard just north of U.S. 41 East, Naples

Another Broken Egg Cafe is coming back to Naples — bigger and better than the location that closed during the pandemic in 2020. The breakfast-brunch chain is opening near the entrance to Freedom Square and Restaurant Row along Collier Boulevard, operated by new franchisee Dillon Gruener of FS Hospitality Group.

This is the first of four planned Southwest Florida locations under a five-year development agreement. A second location will likely follow in Lee County, with Estero and Fort Myers under consideration.

The new cafe features an outdoor patio, a full bar with handcrafted cocktails, mocktails, mimosas, and Bloody Marys, and a menu anchored by Southern brunch classics. Signature dishes include Lemon Blueberry Goat Cheese Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, the Champagne Lobster Omelette, and Crab Cake Benedict. For the East Naples corridor — which has been underserved for breakfast and brunch — this is a meaningful addition.

🍗 The Rooster Food + Drink — Second Location Coming to East Naples📍 Naples Towne Centre South, East Naples (former Thee City's Diner space)

Chef Bryan Sutton's The Rooster — the scratch kitchen on Goodlette-Frank Road that Guy Fieri featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2025 — is expanding to East Naples. The second, larger location takes over the Naples Towne Centre South space that Thee City's Diner permanently closed June 1.

The Rooster is known for homemade biscuits, Hot and Crunchy Grouper, shrimp and grits, and a scratch-made approach that has made the original one of Naples' most consistently praised breakfast and brunch destinations. The East Naples location will be larger than the original and designed to handle demand from a corridor that has been making the drive to Goodlette-Frank for years. The original location at 600 Goodlette-Frank Road North continues operating normally.

🍔 Burger Monger — Coming to Founders Square in North Naples📍 8900 Founders Square Place, North Naples (former Kelly's Roast Beef)

The Founders Square drive-thru space that Kelly's Roast Beef vacated earlier this year is getting a new tenant — and one worth getting excited about.

Burger Monger, a premium smashburger concept from Tampa Bay, is converting the space into one of its first drive-thru restaurants outside the Tampa Bay area. The menu is built around one-third-pound patties using a proprietary ground chuck and sirloin blend with Akaushi beef — known for its rich marbling. Specialty burgers include the Steakhouse Monger, the Peppered Pig (double patties, grilled ham, bacon, grilled onions, jalapeños, provolone, peppercorn ranch), and the Ultimate Bacon Cheddar. The menu also includes turkey burgers, chicken and fish sandwiches, hot dogs, Philly cheesesteaks, patty melts, wings, salads, and Impossible burger options.

A Fort Myers location at Palmetto Commons targets end of July or early August. North Naples follows in September.

A Naples institution since 1979 is expanding for the first time in decades. Michelbob's Championship Ribs & Steaks — more than 100 national awards, a World Sauce Championship, and over ten million pounds of award-winning baby back ribs served from the original Airport-Pulling Road location — is opening a third location on Tamiami Trail North. North Naples and Bonita Springs residents no longer need to make the drive south.

🛒 Three New Publix Locations Open in Naples Area

Publix opened three new replacement stores in the Naples area this summer — all complete ground-up rebuilds on existing footprints. The Neapolitan Way location at 4601 9th St. N. opened July 2, replacing a 38-year-old store with a brand new 52,000-square-foot facility. Two additional area locations also opened as part of Publix's summer rebuild program. Dozens more are in the pipeline statewide.

Central Square Entertainment District — Four Permanent Closures
📍 Central Square, Naples

A significant cluster of closures hit Central Square right before summer. The District, The Mini Bar, The Alley, and Staff Only all permanently closed in a coordinated shutdown that reshaped the entertainment district's lineup overnight. No replacement tenants have been announced for any of the four spaces.

Thee City's Diner Bar & Grill — Naples Towne Centre South (permanently closed June 1, being replaced by The Rooster East Naples)
