If you've been thinking about adopting a pet, now may be one of the best times to do it.

The Patty Baker Humane Society Naples offers several ongoing adoption promotions that reduce, or in some cases completely waive, adoption fees for qualifying animals and adopters. The goal is simple: help more pets find loving homes while creating space for animals still waiting to be adopted.

While standard adoption fees still apply for many dogs and cats, the shelter has a number of programs that can significantly lower the cost depending on the animal and the adopter.

Which Adoption Fees Can Be Waived?

According to the Humane Society, adoption fees are currently waived for:

  • Animals that have been at the shelter for 365 days or longer

  • Black cats

  • Active-duty military members and veterans through the Pets for Patriots program

  • Eligible first responders who live in Collier County

  • Half-off adoption fees for animals that have been waiting 180 days or more.

  • A "Feline Friends" promotion that waives the adoption fee for a second cat or kitten of equal or lesser value when adopting two together.

  • Additional incentives for certain special-needs cats through its Cozy Care Cat Club.

Why It Matters

Every adoption frees up kennel space for another animal in need.

Patty Baker Humane Society says it receives thousands of homeless animals each year and relies on adoptions to continue its lifesaving work. During kitten season alone—which typically runs from March through October—the shelter experiences a significant increase in the number of cats requiring care. In 2025, the organization took in more than 1,100 kittens during that period.

What's Included?

Adoption fees typically include:

  • Spay or neuter surgery

  • Age-appropriate vaccinations

  • A registered microchip

  • Starter food

  • Special discounts on dog training

Every animal is examined before adoption to help ensure it's ready for its new home.
