Colonel Sanders has a bold new offspring — and it just landed in Naples. Saucy! by KFC opened March 24 at the former PDQ location in Carillon Place, just south of Pine Ridge Road, making it the brand's first Southwest Florida location.

Hard to miss — the exterior is hot pink. Inside, the focus is boneless chicken tenders paired with 12 globally inspired sauces including Korean Sweet Heat, Spicy Mango Chutney, Creole Honey Mustard, and Thai Sweet 'N Spicy. The brand promises chicken is never held more than 15 minutes, keeping every order fresh and crispy. Also on the menu: bowls, burritos, salads, tacos, and their own dessert bites called Puffies.

Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet

All-you-can-eat sushi has arrived at Cameron Commons, taking over the former Sakura restaurant space at the corner of Immokalee Road and Collier Boulevard. Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet opened March 20 and is already drawing sushi lovers from across Collier County.

Discover Strength

Naples is getting a fitness first — literally. Discover Strength opens April 6 at the newly constructed Poinciana Plaza, and it will be the first Discover Strength studio in the state of Florida, out of more than 35 locations nationwide.

The concept is built around efficiency: personal trainers lead 30-minute strength workouts twice a week, available in one-on-one or small group sessions. The Naples franchise occupies 1,820 square feet at the plaza being developed by Halstatt Real Estate Partners at the southwest corner of Airport-Pulling Road and Golden Gate Parkway.

A cozy neighborhood Italian concept has landed in Pebblebrook Plaza on Collier Boulevard. Bernwood Tavern & Cucina blends neighborhood tavern warmth with Italian culinary tradition — think handcrafted pastas, classic Italian plates, and a full bar in a welcoming, unpretentious setting.

The space was previously home to Shabo's Bistro, which offered an international and Mediterranean-inspired menu before closing.

Two Casual Newcomers on Fifth Avenue South

Downtown Naples

Barrio Taqueria launched February 18 at 539 Fifth Ave. S., offering Mexican street food including chicken-and-poblano empanadas, birria tacos, esquites street corn, and agua fresca in a counter-service format. The concept is owned by a Naples hospitality veteran who also operates Unidos Latin fusion restaurant downtown.

All Too Well Gourmet Sandwiches opened February 12 on the corner of Fifth Avenue South and Eighth Street South, with 11 varieties of chef-crafted gourmet sandwiches. Both newcomers represent a growing casual dining movement on Fifth that complements the avenue's upscale full-service stalwarts.

Starbucks Drive-Thru

Interior build-out is expected to begin by late March or early April, with an anticipated opening in late June or July. The new drive-thru location will anchor Poinciana Plaza at the southwest corner of Airport-Pulling Road and Golden Gate Parkway — a high-traffic intersection serving central Naples.

Rusty's Raw Bar & Grill — Upscale New Location

Shoppes at Vanderbilt · 2355 Vanderbilt Beach Road · North Naples

Naples seafood institution Rusty's Raw Bar & Grill is expanding — and going upscale. The new location at Shoppes at Vanderbilt will occupy a southern endcap unit in a newly built retail center near the CVS on the northwest corner of Airport-Pulling and Vanderbilt Beach roads.

Plans call for a two-story restaurant with an indoor-outdoor bar and seating area on the second floor — a significant upgrade from the brand's beloved casual original on Airport-Pulling and Immokalee roads. That original location, which launched as Pelican Larry's Raw Bar & Grill in 2003 and converted to Rusty's in 2013, will remain open. The new Vanderbilt location is designed to take the Rusty's name in a more elevated direction.

Sprouts Farmers Market

The natural and organic grocery chain is targeting a May 15 opening at Ridgeport Plaza on the northwest corner of Airport-Pulling and Pine Ridge roads. The new 24,491-square-foot store will share the former Bed Bath & Beyond anchor space with a downsized Golf Galaxy. This will be Sprouts' second Collier County location, joining its existing store at Logan Landings on Logan Boulevard and Immokalee Road, which launched in 2019.

Genesis of Naples

Construction officially broke ground March 23 on a new standalone Genesis luxury automobile dealership at the Pine Ridge Road and I-75 corridor — one of the hottest development intersections in Southwest Florida right now. The Genesis opening is one of several major endeavors reshaping that North Naples stretch, which is also getting the new Sprouts Farmers Market and continues to attract significant commercial interest.

LVL Fitness Pilates Studio & The Retreat Aesthetics Med-Spa

Two more tenants have officially signed leases at Poinciana Plaza, the new Airport-Pulling Road development from Halstatt Real Estate Partners. LVL Fitness, a Pilates studio, and The Retreat Aesthetics, a med-spa, are both slated to join Discover Strength and Starbucks at the growing retail center. Opening timelines for both have not yet been announced.

Cabaret Cabinetry Showroom

Also at the newly built Shoppes at Vanderbilt retail buildings near the CVS on Airport-Pulling and Vanderbilt Beach roads, Cabaret Cabinetry has signed for approximately 3,000 square feet of the northern endcap for a cabinetry showroom. The two new buildings are almost complete and represent significant new retail capacity for North Naples.

The burrito spot has closed its southwestern endcap unit at Shoppes at Vanderbilt, between Estia restaurant and True Fashionistas consignment. The space is now available — and given the activity at this center, expect to hear about a replacement soon.

Imperio Taqueria vacated its nearly 1,700-square-foot space at Shoppes at Vanderbilt at the end of February. The closure leaves another endcap available at this active North Naples retail center as ownership continues leasing the newly completed buildings on the property.

Shabo's Bistro, which offered an international and Mediterranean-inspired menu at Pebblebrook Plaza on Collier Boulevard, has closed. The space has already been taken by Bernwood Tavern & Cucina (see above).
