Naples church staff swiftly intercepted a potential mass shooter Sunday at Manantial de Vida Church on Golden Gate Parkway, leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Angel Antonio Arreguin of Naples.

Around 12:30 p.m. on July 6, a church employee spotted Arreguin pacing in the lobby during a service. He claimed he was a “trained killer,” asked how much it would cost to halt a mass shooting, and was visibly armed.

Staff calmly engaged the suspect while one discreetly called 911 and another ushered children out of the building.

Deputies quickly arrived and disarmed him, recovering a loaded handgun with a round in the chamber plus 60 rounds of 9 mm ammo in three magazines.

Arreguin was arrested and faces:

Two felony counts of threatening to discharge a destructive device
