The first week of school is here. After the scramble of first-day drop-offs and new routines, Naples settles into what locals know as one of the best times of year: summer evenings that belong to the community, easy restaurant reservations, and a calendar that rewards people who actually live here. This week has Evening on Fifth, Cars and Coffee at Mercato, a comedian at Off the Hook, the August 18 primary election, and the return of Films Al Fresco. Here's everything worth knowing.

🏫 First Full Week of School

Collier County Public Schools — First Week📍 All Collier County campuses

🕗 School hours vary by campus

School started Tuesday. This is the week the new routines lock in: new teachers, new classrooms, and new experiences. For families settling into the rhythm, welcome to the school year. For everyone else, the drop-off traffic is real again. Plan accordingly on Goodlette-Frank, Immokalee Road, and Vanderbilt Beach Road corridor.

🎶 Evening on Fifth — Live Music and Street Ambiance📍 5th Avenue South, Naples

🕡 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM | 🎟 Free | fifthavenuesouth.com

Evening on Fifth returns to downtown Naples Wednesday — live music, open air dining, and the kind of walkable summer evening on Fifth Avenue South that reminds you why people chose to live here. Restaurants along the Avenue will be running specials, the street comes alive after sunset, and parking is actually manageable on a Wednesday in August. One of the most consistently enjoyable free evenings in Naples regardless of the month.
